Sustainability Policy

IVENTUM was established to enable connections between people, ideas, events and places, with the purpose of propelling all involved to a position of confidence, clarity and strength: effectively, we are looking to create a virtuous circle for ‘do good’ people and ideas.

As a service business in the digital age, we recognise that contrary to popular belief we are not sustainable by default but by choice. Herewith, we detail the guiding principles and the concrete actions we are taking in order to deliver economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Find here the latest Deloitte consumer trends report on sustainability.

ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY (= viable)

  • We are a fully digital, mobile operation

  • We are connected with a network of like-minded professionals and businesses

  • We act with integrity and transparency (financial but also of intent and purpose)

  • We outsource areas of non-core expertise to enable us to grow faster

  • We manage priorities ruthlessly to ensure we maintain economic viability and can deliver commitments within agreed parameters (letting clients and suppliers down isn’t sustainable!)

  • We innovate, optimise and adopt new technology enthusiastically and on the go, pursue efficiency and progressive thinking

  • We are rigorous about time keeping and time management (overrunning and burning the candle at both ends isn’t sustainable)

  • We attribute copyrights and quotes to original sources and respect intellectual property at all times

  • We are GDPR compliant and registered with ico.org.uk

  • We use competency based interviews to hire talent and collaborators

Economic Sustainability Mantra:

Agile business operation with focus on optimisation, automation and generating cutting edge value

SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY (= equitable)

Invest in continuous learning: a minimum of 3 new courses on topics of personal and professional interest are undertaken by your members each year.

Recent certifications include:

  • PMP®

  • Google Garage Digital Marketing Fundamentals,

  • ITC Competitiveness Through Enterprise Sustainability

  • Making Every Contact Count - Warwickshire Community Mental Support Certificate

  • Certified in Warwickshire Covid Champion (community support service for Covid prevention and protection of the most vulnerable members).

  • We respect for the rule of law, accountability, and adhere to international business practices.

We are also active volunteers:

  • Founder Ioana Jago regularly volunteers with the local rugby club Shipston on Stour RFU and starting September 2021 she will undertake the First-Aid and Headcase training programmes to assist the team in an emergency.

  • Charity donations are a way of life: we support local charities St Katherine’s Hospice and British Red Cross with gift-aid donations, and we also try to purchase as much as possible from their thriving local stores.

  • We make book donations to the local primary school library

  • All our online purchases from Amazon via Amazon Smiles generate donations to the Rotary Club Shipston on Stour.

  • We volunteer online expertise freely and advocate passionately for all causes and people with similar values.

  • 10% of the annual IVENTUM work is delivered on pro-bono basis.

  • We buy local:

    • Office equipment (laptops, adaptors etc) from socially responsible suppliers: we use John Lewis.

    • Stationery: Printed INK Design, who use an Oxfordshire based artisanal printer specialising in small print runs and recycled paper pulp

    • Business meetings: either Walk & Talk (good for the mind, good for productivity) or use privately owned venues to encourage a circular economy in our community

  • We donate all office equipment and materials (i.e. laptops, books, surplus stationery) to either charities or local schools and nurseries for reuse; alternatively, we ensure disposal via local authority approved channels (to ensure recyclable parts and materials are reused and the other components are disposed responsibly)

Social Sustainability Mantra:

Win-win partnerships + continuously learning.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY (= regenerative)

As a digital business our focus is on reduction of physical supplies we use and ensuring new resources are used minimised.

Here are the steps we have taken::

    • We eliminated paper by 95%

    • We use all technology until no longer fit for purpose and ensure end of life disposal in an environmentally friendly way.

    • We buy fuel locally from Shell or BP

    • Use Walk & Talk meetings to promote productivity and mental health

    • We car-share whenever possible (less so during the pandemic)

    • We eliminated all plastic from business supplies (we use wooden pens, fountain pens, recycled paper or discarded old branded paper from other business stocks)

    • We use online meetings whenever possible - more time and cost efficient and better for the planet (our minds still travel freely)

    • We plant a tree for every new business client or partnership with the Heart of England Forest. By dedicating a tree in the forest our clients become a lasting part of an incredible project: growing the largest new native forest in England.

Environmental Sustainability Mantra:

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle

Considerations:

The current global population uses the equivalent of 1.6 planet’s worth of resources. Clearly, we must reverse this trend. This document is intended as both evidence of the IVENTUM way in sustainability and as a checklist for all who study it.

IVENTUM will work with its clients and suppliers to weave sustainability considerations into all solutions delivered.

We encourage you to take action and develop and promote your sustainable practices whilst helping us implement and improve ours.

Sustainability means viability, long term. Without Economic sustainability, there is no force for good at work, without Social impact, there is no economical sustainability and without Environmental sustainability there won’t be a resource to feed life and growth. So let’s hold on to our planet and help it replenish itself.

The UN definition for “Sustainable Development is:

‘Development which meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’
